My name is Richard Moles and although I am from an Irish background (hence my particular interest in the Irish Regiments that fought in the Great War), I have lived the larger part of my life on the edge of west London. My interest in The Great War stems from a chance conversation, I had with a friend of my brothers, who knew of my military background (22 years with the colours), and asked me how he might go about finding out, about his great uncle who fought and died in The Great War with The South Irish Horse.

As I live near The National Archives I decided to see what I could do for him. It was not easy as his papers were among those destroyed during the Blitz in 1940. Little did I know then that this would turn into an ever growing First World War, Book & Medal Collection and a passion bordering on an obsession in all things First World War and in particular the part the Irish took in it.

Since that day all those years ago I have researched many Officers and Soldiers for clients, helping friends research their ancestors and researching for my own medal collection, acquiring on the way an extensive reference library and becoming a member of The Western Front Association.
